Learn How To Clean Thoroughly Your Venetian Blinds

The interior blinds need to be cleaned regularly, but it is a time consuming job and not everyone has the time or the energy to light clean them on a regular basis. As a result, they will gather dust, dirt and grease and they will need to be deep cleaned. There is also the option that you have moved into a new home and you are keeping the blinds and they really need to be thoroughly cleaned. But even if you clean them light on a regular basis, there will come a moment when you will really have to deep clean them and remove all the dirt from the places that are less approachable.

All venetian blinds need a deep clean from time to time and it isn’t a really hard job if you plan carefully and save a day just for this job.

Be careful with the more sensitive materials

If you own wooden blinds, you cannot really deep clean them. The wood or the faux wood cannot be exposed to chemical substances, or even to water and humidity and deep cleaning them can destroy them. Therefore, if your blinds are made from these materials, stick to light cleaning, to dry dusting on a regular basis and they will be just fine, taking into consideration the fact that the wooden blinds don’t have inaccessible holes like the other ones.

Learn the deep cleaning process

The first step is to take down the venetian blinds. Afterwards the cleaning process will begin. You can clean them in a tub, hanged by a fence or on a concrete surface outdoors. If you choose to clean them into your tub you can leave them to soak for a couple of hours in water and detergent. You can wash them easily with dish detergent, but there are many types of solutions. If you wash them outside just spray the solution on them and let it sit. Now the scrubbing part begins. With a light brush scrub everything off and then rinse the blinds. Don’t forget to hang them and let them dry properly, to avoid mold.
